During my years of using Excel, primarily for organizing budgets and schedules, I discovered a unique approach to font creation. Initially, I utilized Excel’s grid structure to manage projects, organize timelines, and schedules. This year, while experimenting with scheduling, I envisioned using the grid layout to design fonts and images, as it reminded me of knitting patterns and pixel-based drawing software. I began by sketching a rudimentary, pixel based font and transferring the project to Google Spreadsheets.
To my surprise, a technical glitch in the spreadsheet generated entirely new alphabets, adding an unexpected layer of creativity to the project. This serendipitous error led to the development of "FLAKE," a font with various alphabetic variations that appear randomly, offering a fresh design each time it is used.
